Last year we raised $1,700 at our pro bono booth at the Cornhill Festival by providing free massage. We were able to share information about HTI with a LOT of people and give them a hands on sample of massage. We were awarded another booth this year (July 10th and 11th). Look for us on Atkinson Street. If you are interested in volunteering your massage talents to help raise donations or if you would like to help out in the booth please contact Kim Ross at 726-6222. We need you!

You have found the integrative therapy resource for Rochester, NY area residents who have cancer. Our Oncology Massage Program has been in action since October 2009. Many are benefiting from the profound effect massage can have on the energy draining symptoms, side-effects and life absorbing regimes people with cancer find themselves facing.
Plans for 2010 include developing a movement program this fall that will include classes in yoga, tai chi, dance, Feldenkreis and more. This program will be modeled after the Oncology Massage Program using local movement facilitators who will modify classes to meet the needs of those attending. Also, like our Massage Program the Movement Program will be geared to alleviate the symptoms and side affects mentioned above. Classes will be held at the studios of the individual participating movement facilitators. More information will be posted as the program develops. In October our Oncology Massage Program began offering massage therapy for free or low-cost to those living with cancer in the Rochester, NY area. Our massage providers are helping to relieve some of the most common issues those with cancer face—pain, anxiety, sleeplessness and negative body image. Click here to apply online: Oncology massage application. From July at our 4th of July Bash through to December at the Heartstrings benefit concert we raised over $11,000.
Were you at Heartstrings?
Well, about 200 people were. “Three bands, one night, all heart” was the theme. It was that and so much more! Lovin’ Cup located by RIT held the benefit concert that raised more than $2,500 between ticket sales, 50/50 raffle and an auction on December 19th 2009. Teagan and the Tweeds, Meg Gehman and the Violet Mary’s lent their talents to entertain our guests. The warm up duet, Loveful Heights, harmonized in an amazing fashion leaving us mesmerized! Many thanks to all involved for making it a fun night of enjoying good food, beer, wine, music and friends.

Mary Moore is going to donate the proceeds of the auction of her painting “Never Forget” to HTI at the Heartstrings Benefit Concert this Saturday. Mary’s Aunt Patty is the inspiration for her painting. In her words, “Never Forget is a tribute to my aunt and other family members who faced cancer. It is also a tribute to my family members who bravely stood together through the toughest of times.”

Celbration of Life Bracelet
Nancee Sanders has generously offered to donate a portion of sales of her jewelry making kits to HTI if you tell her you are an HTI supporter. You may see her bracelets, earrings and more at her web site http://www.nanceesanders.com/.
Our thanks to Studio 34 and its owner Marilynne Lipshutz for giving us their time and talent for our first jewelry-making fundraisers on November 22nd. About 20 people learned how to make fused glass pendants, beaded bracelets or a “Celebration of Life” bracelet by Nancee Sanders. Visit the Studio 34 website to find out about all the amazing classes held there, from torch work to precious metal clay. It is a wonderful atmosphere of learning, fun and creativity. http://www.studio34jewelryartslearningcenter.com/
Thank you to Virtu Restaurant for providing all the food and drink plus the unbeatable view of the city fireworks this past July 4th! 100% of ticket sales for the event went to HTI. We raised $1,300 that night!

Some of the fun was captured by guest, Art Feldsott. Thanks Art!
